Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? We’ve got answers!
Learn how Wellness Patriots helps employers and families navigate healthcare, improve access to care, manage costs, and find solutions designed around their needs.
What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a healthcare model that gives members convenient access to primary care for a predictable monthly membership fee. Depending on the program, services may include office visits, virtual care, care coordination, and other primary care services—often with little to no out-of-pocket cost at the point of care.
Perks include:
- Convenient access to primary and virtual care
- Little to no out-of-pocket cost for included services
- Care coordination and ongoing primary care support
- Nationwide access options for employees and families
Do I need insurance?
DPC is not health insurance. It can be used alongside traditional group coverage, an individual health plan, an ICHRA, or other healthcare arrangements. The right combination depends on your individual or employer-sponsored healthcare strategy.
How does DPC work if I sign up?
Once enrolled, you’ll receive instructions for accessing your DPC services. Depending on your program, you may access care virtually, schedule an in-person visit, or receive help navigating to the appropriate care option when you need it.
What services are included in my DPC membership?
Included services vary by program but may include primary and virtual care, routine and preventive care, chronic condition support, care coordination, and other primary care services. Your specific membership materials will outline exactly what is included and any applicable costs.
Can my whole family join?
Depending on the program, coverage may be available for individuals, spouses, and dependent family members. Employer-sponsored options can also be structured to include employees and their families.
How does DPC save me money?
DPC can help reduce healthcare spending by giving members easier access to primary care, often with little to no out-of-pocket cost for included services. Better access to care may also help address health needs earlier and reduce unnecessary use of higher-cost care settings.
Do businesses benefit from DPC?
Yes. Employers can offer DPC as a standalone benefit or integrate it into a broader healthcare strategy. DPC can improve access to primary care, reduce barriers for employees, support smarter healthcare utilization, and help employers better manage overall healthcare spending.
Can I still see specialists?
Absolutely. DPC focuses on primary care and does not prevent you from seeing specialists. Depending on your program, your care team may also help coordinate referrals or guide you to appropriate specialty or urgent care when needed.
Is telehealth available?
Yes. Virtual care is available through many of our DPC programs, giving members convenient access to care from home, work, or while traveling. Specific virtual care services and availability depend on the program.
How do I sign up?
Getting started is simple. Contact the Wellness Patriots team and we’ll help you understand the options available, determine which solution fits your needs, and guide you through the enrollment process.
Are there long-term contracts?
Terms vary depending on the program or solution selected. Some memberships may offer month-to-month flexibility, while employer-sponsored arrangements may have different agreement terms. Our team will review those details with you before enrollment.
What healthcare solutions does Wellness Patriots offer?
Wellness Patriots helps employers evaluate and implement a range of healthcare and employee benefit strategies, including Direct Primary Care, ICHRA, level-funded and self-funded health plans, healthcare financing, mental health support, supplemental benefits, and other solutions designed to improve access to care and better manage healthcare spending.
What is an ICHRA?
An Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) allows an employer to provide employees with a defined, tax-advantaged contribution that can be used to purchase individual health insurance. Instead of offering one group health plan to everyone, employees can choose individual coverage that fits their needs while the employer maintains greater control over its healthcare budget.
What is Patriot One?
Patriot One is a connected healthcare and wellbeing membership that brings multiple solutions together in one simple experience. Members gain access to healthcare, financial wellness, nutrition, mental and metabolic health, dental and vision resources, and healthcare financing—all designed to improve access, reduce barriers, and help healthcare dollars work harder.
How does Wellness Patriots determine the right solution for an employer?
We start by understanding your organization—not by pushing a predetermined product or plan. Our team reviews your current healthcare strategy, costs, workforce needs, and goals, then evaluates traditional and alternative solutions to build an approach designed around your business and your people.
